In Between | Sculptural Vessel

A one of a kind sculptural vessel exploring the contrast between black and white, light and darkness, and the balance between opposing forces.

Hand shaped and carved, the piece was left unglazed and finished in a traditional pit firing. I loved the natural white of the clay, while the fire and smoke transformed part of the surface into deep black. The final contrast is partly shaped by the firing itself, making the result something that cannot be completely planned or repeated.

The piece is not waterproof, but can hold dry flowers, branches, or other natural elements.
